Frequently Asked Questions

Choosing Between 3-Point and 4-Point Systems

For maximum stability on slightly uneven floors, a 3-point system (one steerable skate in front, two fixed skates at the back) is highly recommended. It acts like a tripod, ensuring all wheels maintain contact with the ground. Use a 4-point system only on perfectly level surfaces for exceptionally long or wide loads.

Understanding Fixed vs. Swivel (Steerable) Skates

Fixed Skates (like our CRM series) move only in a straight line, providing high tracking stability. Swivel Skates (Steerable series) feature a 360-degree rotating turntable and a handle, allowing you to navigate corners and position machinery with precision in tight spaces.

Load Capacity Safety Margin

Always choose a set where the combined capacity exceeds your machine’s weight by at least 20-30%. This safety margin accounts for uneven weight distribution, where one skate might momentarily carry more load than others during the move.

Nylon vs. Steel vs. Polyurethane Wheels

  • Nylon/PU Wheels: Best for smooth, epoxy-coated, or tiled floors as they prevent scratches and run quietly.
  • Steel Rollers: Ideal for rough concrete or environments with metal shavings, as they are extremely durable and won’t “flat-spot” under immense pressure.

Low Profile Advantage for Heavy Lifting

A lower height (Low Profile) keeps the machine’s center of gravity as close to the ground as possible. This drastically reduces the risk of the machine tipping over during transport and requires less jacking height to position the skates.

Preventing Load Slippage

Our skates feature anti-slip rubber surfaces on the loading platforms. For added security, ensure the contact point is clean and oil-free. On very smooth surfaces, some riggers use high-friction mats or temporary adhesive between the machine and the skate.

Essential Pre-Move Safety Checklist

Clear the Path: Even a small pebble can stop a loaded skate abruptly. 2. Use a Toe Jack: Always use a proper industrial toe jack to lift the machine safely. 3. Check Floor Capacity: Ensure your floor can handle the “point load” created by the small rollers.

Troubleshooting "Hard to Roll" Issues

This is usually due to debris in the bearings or flat-spots on the wheels from overloading. Regularly clean the rollers and lubricate the internal bearings to ensure the “low-friction” performance Komada is known for.

Warranty and Component Replacement

Yes. We provide full after-sales support, including replacement rollers and bearings. All our Machine Moving Skates come with a 12-month warranty against manufacturing defects, ensuring your investment is protected.
